Spilling the Tea: Celebrating Jane Austen’s 250th Birthday

FARGO — She’s one of the most popular writers in the Western world. And at 250 years old, she’s still going strong today.

That’s why the Fargo Public Library is inviting you to help celebrate Jane Austen’s birthday Saturday.

She’s the writer often credited with helping to establish the modern novel.

Her most beloved works, like “Pride and Prejudice, “Sense and Sensibility,” and “Emma,” are still being adapted into film, miniseries, and more.

This weekend’s celebration at the Dr. James Carlson library features tea-tasting, trivia, and Regency-era past-times.

Librarian Lori West joined the Morning Show with a cup of English Breakfast to talk Austen’s enduring appeal, humor, and sharp insight on romance, economic power and more.
