ND lawmaker who died last month remembered for marching with Martin Luther King, Jr.

BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) — A North Dakota man who marched with Martin Luther King Jr. is also being remembered.
The family of Byron Knutson waited until the week leading up to the MLK holiday to announce his death.
The Democrat and former North Dakota Insurance and Labor Commissioner died last month in Bismarck at 96.
Knutson grew up in Benson County.
He marched with King in the 1965 voting rights march after having served as a Marine in the Korean War and in the North Dakota Legislature.
His daughter, Rebecca Knutson, says her father was profoundly inspired by King, and devoted his life to public service.
In 2024, the Dem-NPL party honored Bryan by making him one of three Democratic presidential electors for Kamala Harris.
He is survived by Bernice, his wife of 59 years, along with his daughters Rebecca and Harmony Knutson, and grandchildren.
The family will announce a celebration of life at a later date.
