FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A locally filmed feature-length movie is set to make its debut at the Fargo Theatre on May 1st.

“Roommate” is described as a romantic thriller about a teen who is caught in a disaster while attending a CDC summer camp.

Director Jessica Hayes calls it a mix between the 1986 movie SpaceCamp and the 2011 movie Contagion.

She says that filming locally – and using all local actors – really put a spotlight on how much talent there is in this region.

“There’s tons of films going on. I think that the community really needs to know,” she said. “There is a huge community of filmmakers, and it’s really cool to see what we can do.”

Hayes added that now feels like a special time to release the project, following the Fargo Theatre’s 100th birthday celebration and the runaway success of this year’s Fargo Film Festival.
