Pet Connection: Meet Kenny G

FARGO — If you’re looking for a dog whose personality is “as smooth as a sax solo,” in the words of Homeward Animal Shelter’s Natalie Perhus, then the description of what Kenny G’s like to be around will be music to your ears.

Kenny came to the shelter from the Spirit Lake reservation area, where all the shelters and the pound are completely full.

He’s been hanging out at Homeward’s shelter since, but while shelters are great places to put dogs to keep them safe, it’s much better to have them in a home, either foster or permanent.

Kenny hasn’t let that affect his sweet personality, though.

He’s very calm and good on a leash, but he is very strong, so it’s something to be mindful of when you’re walking him.

Like a lot of pit bulls and Staffordshires, which he appears to be a mix of, Kenny’s good with kids, although children over 5 suit him best since he could accidentally knock over a toddler.

Pit bulls were actually considered “nanny dogs” years ago, since they’re typically very enthusiastic about children.

He’s a beautiful fellow in excellent physical condition, and at just two years old, has lots of playful energy to balance out his calm demeanor.
