MOORHEAD — With celebrations of America’s 250 birthday going on across the country, local groups are getting into the spirit.

The Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County is hosting an exhibit at Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead celebrating America’s birthday called “Americana: Objects that Reflect US”.

There will be military uniforms and items used by service members from as far back as the Civil War, but there will also be items from recent history.

There will be a quilt made during the pandemic, and a Spuds Hockey helmet worn during their recent championship win

Staff say the exhibit is about telling the story of our country through objects used by those that helped America reach 250 years.

“It will have all kinds of objects from Clay County that kind of tell the story about what it means to be an American. Different ideals and beliefs we have, pastimes and things that we enjoy,” said HCSC Executive Director Laura Forde.

“Americana: Objects that Reflect US” runs from July 1 through January 3.
