Pet Connection: Meet Kahlua
FARGO — Kahlua, the queen of kisses, joined the Morning Show with her friend, rescue worker Heather Klefstad of Homeward Animal Shelter, to share a somewhat unusual origin story.
Homeward’s rescue workers found Kahlua, a striking four-and-a-half-year-old husky with blue eyes and a sweet and affectionate disposition, in the Fargo pound.
When they brought her in, they of course had her scanned for a microchip, and were surprised to find she had one.
They were even more surprised to find out it was registered to owners in Missouri.
When Homeward contacted them, they said they couldn’t take care of Kahlua anymore, and requested Homeward rehome her.
It’s hard to believe anyone would relinquish a gorgeous gem of a girl like Kahlua.
She’s good on a leash, gives hugs and kisses, and likes other dogs, kids, adults, and even cats — an unusual characteristic in huskies, which often have high prey drives.
She’s in great health, although she could stand to put on a few pounds, and she’s got a bright, inquisitive nature, asking to be shown around the studio and even the control room where the crew puts the show on the air.
She has not been tested for her off-leash behavior in open areas, so if you are looking to adopt her, be aware huskies as a breed do tend to run – it
s what they’re bred for, after all.
Homeward is looking to replenish their supplies at the shelter, so keep the need for donations in mind if you want to help support Kahlua but can’t bring her home.
And don’t forget to turn out for the Pawchella gathering coming up Tuesday, July 15th.
