Pet Connection: Meet Titan

Bottineau, N.D. — It takes a strong person to come through the kind of past Titan the black lab/coonhound mix has survived.

And his story is a testament to the hard work of the region’s law enforcement and a special kind of bravery from his original owner.

Cindy Holtan, who’s a board member of Kritter Krazy Reptile and Exotic Rescue, says they got word about Titan’s emergency situation from a law enforcement officer who summoned them to the car Titan was living in with his owner, a woman with small kids.

The owner said her partner had been physically abusing Titan and she needed to rehome him for his own safety, Holtan said.

When the rescue workers arrived, there was blood still coming from the woman’s nose.

Titan’s pretty underweight, but other than that, he’s in good health and remarkably good spirits considering his past.

He’s freshly neutered and vaccinated, and at two years old, he already knows sit, down, and a number of other commands.

He’s got a great attitude, a healthy appreciation of treats, and a lot of affection to spare.
