Pet Connection: Meet Dino

WEST FARGO — Like all the best stylists, Dino the Indian ringneck has a gentle touch, a heart of gold and a patient nature.

And with his sweet personality and affectionate hair-grooming, he made our Morning Show anchor’s hair look better than she ever has styling it herself.

Dino is a Creamino Indian Ringneck, a genetic mutation that is missing the ring around the neck that gives the species their name.

But that doesn’t stop him from charming everyone in the studio, including all 70-some elementary students from Ada-Borup schools visiting KVRR for a field trip.

Dino arrived at the KVRR Studios with Echo the ambassador parrot to show off their beauty and personality and to help Candi Willey, volunteer for the Center for Avian Adoption, Rescue and Education, (or CAARE) with an important announcement about the shelter.

For the first time since being forced to close last spring after an outbreak of a deadly bird disease, the shelter is completely sanitized and free of any pathogens and it’s ready to reopen.

At one point it looked like the shelter might have to close for good and necessitated sending birds to the Twin Cities who needed rehoming.

That could have included Dino and Echo, who lost their home when a tree fell on it during last month’s deadly storms.

But now Dino has a place for you to come and interact with him and see if he’s the right bird for you (and your hairstyle), check out his adoption information, here:
